Education sends letters to teachers and families of the Basque public school for the twelve days of strike

Date:

On the one hand, the Basque government wanted to convey “calm” and “confidence” to families, and on the other hand, it sent the teachers the last proposal made at the negotiating table to the unions.

The Ministry of Education of the Basque Government has sent letters to teaching staff and families non-university public education on the eve of the 12-day strike called by LAB, Steilas, ELA and CC.OO. in January and February, as EITB has learned. On the one hand, and on the other,

In the letter to the teachers of public education, the Ministry of Education has explained the details of its latest proposal to unions, which includes “substantial improvements” over those included in the current regulatory agreement.

The latest proposal includes measures such as decrease in workloadgo for the next two years from 11 p.m improvement of working conditions of interim staff equal to that of official teaching staff, salary increase —capitalization of the first six-year term, increase in benefits for management positions, full payment of benefits for academic positions—, improvements in licenses and permits – maternity and paternity leave, breastfeeding, reconciliation, sexist violence, etc.

The Basque Government understands that these are measures that “would not only improve the working conditions of teaching staff, but would also have an impact on the well-being of students and their academic development, and provide a stable and enriching environment that would improve the quality of education .”

In the same way, the Ministry of Education assures that the meeting calendar from the negotiating table to the end of the course has already been determined, and therefore it is “difficult” for it to understand the call for a strike.
