Julia Ivancsits is the first woman to achieve the gold achievement badge. Her efforts are mainly aimed at young people.
Whether it concerns storms, traffic accidents or fire: the Burgenland Florianis are present 365 days a day if there is a fire on the roof. Julia Ivancsits from Klingenbach is also at the forefront of business operations. She recently received the Rosa Jochmann Prize for her work in the fire brigade sector.
Today, women are an integral part of the fire service. When Julia Ivancsits joined the Klingenbach fire brigade more than twenty years ago, she was one of the few pioneers.
Only when the fire brigade law was reformed in 1994 were women from Burgenland allowed to become active members of the fire brigade. “My godfather was a commander and my uncle was a youth worker at the fire brigade. I have the fire brigade in my blood,” says the 32-year-old, who is not only a youth leader at the local fire brigade, but also works at the district level as a district representative for “fire brigade youth and training” and the youth main district competitions in the Eisenstadt district.
First State Winner of the Fire Service Achievement Badge in Gold
The list of badges she has achieved is also long: Julia Ivancsits has acquired all the achievement badges and was the first state winner to win the gold fire service achievement badge. As part of her commitment to the youth fire brigade, she also programmed an app with knowledge questions in preparation for the knowledge tests. Since 2023, she has also been responsible for public relations for the Burgenland fire youth and works as a drone pilot in the field of disaster relief.
