An artist has caused great horror in Denmark with an exhibition. Marco Evaristti (61) slowly wanted to starve three small piglets in a cage – before the visitor’s eyes. But animal rights activists have released the animals that can be seen from their suffering.
The 61-year-old Danish-Chilean citizen, who caused a sensation with goldfish in jealousies in 2000, wanted to draw attention to animal disease with his campaign in Copenhagen. Evaristti justified with the next argument of the Ritzau press agency: “These three piglets would still die because they are weak. You have more space in your cage than in a conventional pig stye. 20,000 pigs die here every day. “
The exhibition “And now you started on Friday?” (In German: And now you take care of yourself?). On the first day, the animals shown, which were under two fallen shopping, still had enough water and food. After that, slow hunger was planned as an exhibition visitor with a bolt shot on the spot the animals would not cash in on their suffering.
The Danish organization for animal welfare Dyrens Beskyttelse has already threatened with an advertisement. But this was no longer necessary, because unknown perpetrators gained unauthorized access to their piglets on Saturday and they were stable. A cleaner noticed the break and the empty “housing”. The police were then warned.
Countless threats of murder against artists and son
There is still no trace of the animals. Evaristti, however, announced that the project had ended. Apparently the excitement became too much for him. Especially since he and his son had received countless death threats. The author of a threatening e-mail had given a photo of his 25-year-old son with a Swastika and had written according to a TV report: “Hopefully nothing will happen to your son if you really do this expression.”
