When an earthquake of South California was shaken on Monday morning, a surveillance camera was included in the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, while the elephants were excited and eventually formed a “alarm circle” for two young animals.
The video (see above), which was included in the housing of the Pachyderms, shows five African elephants that are around in the morning sun, before the camera starts to wiggle as a result of the earthquakes in force 5.2 and the animals excited in different directions.
When – the zoo reported – the older elephants – “ndlula”, “umngani” and “khosi” – tried to circl the two seven -year -old young animals “Zuli” and “Mkhaya” to protect them against possible threats.
The elephants stay upset for a few minutes – even when the earth no longer trembled. About an hour later, the Pachyderms again formed a so -driven alarm circle during a short speed.
Animals are “alarm circle” for threats
Elephants can feel sounds or vibrations with their feet. When you perceive a threat, you often collect in a “alarm circle”, where the young animals usually look out in the middle and the adult animals to defend the group.
The earthquake could be felt from San Diego to Los Angeles, almost 200 kilometers away. The USDBIEBENWARTE USGS explained the power of the earthquake, the epicenter of which was near the small town of Julien, east of San Diego, with 5.2. In the Bergstad Julian fell in shops, the boards were not reported, but no injury or damage were reported.
