Even more inflation – shock for retirees: 99 euros more rent

Date:

The “Krone” reported on Monika Reichl from Salzburg, who is struggling with inflation. Now costs have risen again.

Retired Monika Reichl spoke openly about inflation and its consequences and how priceless life still is. After the readers of “Krone” helped the senior and brought her great joy, the next setback came to Reichl. She has to pay 99 euros per month more for the rent. “I’m desperate, I don’t know how I’m going to make it,” Reichl said.

Many residents of Salzburg have had the same experience in recent days and weeks. If the situation in the energy market does not improve, this is only the beginning.

The city and the state would influence
“Of course she is not the only one who has been hit hard,” says city councilor Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus), adding: “Certainly in the subsidized area, this would be completely avoidable.” The non-profit organization is completely in public hands. The city and state of Salzburg each own 50 percent. After all, there are about 10,000 gswb apartments in Salzburg.

“A freeze on rents and running costs would also get the right people because there are a lot of them in these low-income apartments,” says Dankl.
