The Obertyrian Skiort Schlading says goodbye to Christian Steiner: The popular head of the Pichlmayrgut died in a tractor accident. More than 1000 funeral guests, including ex-SHOV-Zampano Hans Pum and pop star Marc Pircher, came to the funeral.
A whole region suffers from Christian Steiner Senior, who has to dig his fifth of eight children – after he had only lost his beloved wife a few years ago. His firstborn son Christian Junior, as reported, was killed on his property at the end of June in a terrible accident: for inexplicable reasons, the 50-year-old was pinched between a tractor shovel and a stone wall.
In the afternoon, more than 1000 acquaintances, friends and family members were on the last path of the popular Schlading Hotelier, who had led the exclusive Pichlmayrgut with a lot of passion and innovative strength. The funeral procession led from the courtyard of the hotel to the parish church of Pichl, where the service took place and pop star Marc Pircher sang a farewell song. The family’s body is then transferred to cremation.
“I will miss the beautiful conversations with him”
The sympathy of the population was huge, like Hermann Egger, his business partner of the Hohenhaus Tenne, said: “There is great care everywhere, a huge loss!” Not only was his passion for the hotel and gastronomy, but also his dedication to the Obertyrian ski area. Egger, who came from Tyrol: “Christian was one of my best friends, an open, affordable, funny person. I will miss the beautiful conversations with him.”
The history of the Pichlmayrgut goes back to 1117, when the impressive ownership was first mentioned as “Good on the Puhel”. For a long time before the holidaymakers housed, it was the office of St. Peter to Salzburg Abbey, whose hat of Key and Bishop are still witness in the weapon. In 1711 the Steiners acquired the building complex, which – with an interruption – always remained family of the family.
Fifth
It is particularly tragic that the Schlading family had to deal with various terrible fakes of fate. Four brothers and sisters of the now deadly crashed Christian Steiner lost her life early: two girls and a boy died in his infancy, a girl at the age of 14. Mother Christa, a tourist pioneer, was buried in 2002.
