15 children and two attendants were injured in a collision with horses at a pony farm in northwestern France. Three of the young victims suffered serious injuries. As the public prosecutor of Rennes announced on Wednesday, the animals pushed or knocked the children over. The injured were taken to hospital near Vitré in Brittany after Tuesday night’s incident.
The incident happened when a group of children led the ponies into the field in the evening. On the way, one of the animals turned and others followed. A violent clash ensued as the animals fled, prosecutors said. In total there were 26 children between the ages of 9 and 13 on the farm.
The French broadcaster France Info reported, referring to the fire service, that the seriously injured children had suffered head injuries. The other victims suffered injuries to their limbs.
