The Basque government has emphasized that in a context of climate crisis, covid pandemic and instability resulting from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, “the energy-climate transition is moving from an urgent need to an absolute priority”. “A civic and supportive mindset and awareness for a sustainable world and living are the keys to the present and the future right now,” the note adds.

Along the same lines, Fernández has warned that, “In the same way that the pandemic simultaneously created a critical and global experience of serious health risks around the world and in all people, right now the entire world and all people to whom we are called to promote a cultural change in our relationship with energy use, our way of life and its sustainability”.
