After several cases of fraud involving the so-called bail trick, a suspected fraudster was finally arrested on August 3 in Wolfsthal, in the Lower Austrian district of Bruck an der Leitha. The police caught her in the act.
In Lower Austria, the 21-year-old had a very special trick: she demanded bail from people to protect their relatives from jail. This is what happened on August 3rd when she cheated on an innocent mother. She pretended that her daughter had caused a traffic accident with serious injuries. However, she could escape the jail sentence that was actually threatened if she gave 90,000 euros as bail.
Caught in action
The agents of the Hainburg Police Inspectorate were able to catch and arrest the woman in the act. The public prosecutor in Korneuburg then ordered the admission of the suspect to the prison in Korneuburg. The further investigation will be taken over by the State Criminal Investigation Department of Lower Austria.
More finds
Valuable jewelry was also seized during a search of the suspects, which they allegedly received as gifts. A gold wedding ring, marked 585 and inscribed Jakob 20.2.54, was found. Another gold ring is illegibly stamped, but it may be numbered 585. The woman also had a silver piercing, marked 925, and a gold chain, stamped, 750.
Police hope to resolve other previously unsolved bail fraud cases involving the same collector and so published a photo of the suspect.
Information about further actions of the suspects and contacting the owners of the photographed jewelry are requested from the State Criminal Investigation Department of Lower Austria on telephone number 059133/30-3333.
