Better to wait – Why you shouldn’t fill up on Good Friday

Date:

There is a lot to do on Austrian roads around Easter. Fuel prices also tend to rise. But you can save even this weekend – the ÖAMTC explains how.

The car club advises not to refuel on Good Friday if possible. A comparison of Easter fuel prices over the past four years shows that fuel costs between 3.5 and 5.5 cents more than on Easter Sunday or Easter Monday. Although fuel generally becomes more expensive towards the end of the week, Good Friday stands out again. If it can be set up, it is better to visit the gas station on another day.

Whether at Easter or at other times of the year, it can be worthwhile to compare petrol stations. Using the E-Control fuel price calculator, drivers can find the cheapest gas pumps in the area. The main thing to avoid are motorway service stations, where fuel can be up to 40 cents more expensive.

Distance between super and diesel reduced
By the way, super drivers currently drive cheaper. But the difference has become smaller. Overall, diesel was 2.3 cents cheaper compared to February and now costs an average of 1.68 euros, while Super was 1.6 cents more expensive and now costs 1.61 euros.

A trip across the border is only partially worthwhile. In the south there is a greater chance that something will be saved. But refueling has also become more expensive in Croatia and Slovenia for tax reasons, but still slightly cheaper than in Austria.
