Tesla rival Polestar, owned by Volvo parent company Geely of China, is joining the ranks of smartphone makers and is now selling a companion smartphone for its electric cars: the Polestar Phone. And the car manufacturer seems to take it seriously, installing top technology and offering a price of around 950 euros for the device – which is affordable compared to a car.
The Polestar Phone is not the first smartphone with the logo of a car manufacturer. In recent years, Chinese manufacturers have capitalized on the strong emotional bond that many consumers have developed with car brands. Huawei lures with Porsche smartphones, rival Oppo has devices in the Lamborghini Edition and subsidiary brand Realme has mobile phones with racing stripes.
