Waiting for decades it has come to the end, in December: the Koralbahn including a 33 km tunnel will be in operation! A new era starts for Carinthia and Styria. It is a project of the century, made possible by billions of euros and thousands of people.
The Carinthian Governor Peter Kaiser likes to speak of a “new central area with one and a half million people” in view of the only 45 minutes, which Graz and Klagenfurt will separate from December 14, 2025. For the south of Austria, the new railway line not only symbolizes this comfort, but also economic opportunities. This was preceded by decades of complex planning and construction work. Especially the construction of the Koralmt tunnel stands out.
