Date:

Young people who turn 18 in 2022 can spend 400 euros on films, books, concerts or the press, among other things

The Ministry of Culture and Sports will open the process for companies and cultural institutions to join the Youth Cultural Bonus program next Monday, July 18. This was announced by Minister Miquel Iceta in letters he sent this morning to the Regional Councilors of Culture, government representatives, the President of the FEMP (Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces) and the most important associations in the sector.

From Monday, companies and cultural institutions can register for the Youth Culture Voucher. The entry of suppliers of cultural products and services is an essential step so that young people from all over Spain can use the bonus wherever they are, when it is activated.

For the program to be a success and to ensure that the EUR 210 million allocated to effectively reach the cultural sectors spread across the territory, it is essential that entities and companies in the cultural sector throughout Spain apply for their membership. The Youth Culture Voucher only works in those companies, shops and cultural institutions that have previously registered for participation in the program.

The entire cultural fabric of our country, both public and private, is invited to participate: theaters, festivals, cinemas, museums, bookstores, music stores, publishers, newspapers… The bullfights, sporting events, textbooks Textbooks, musical instruments, or software and hardware are not included. The support is divided into three blocks: 200 euros for face-to-face activities (concerts, cinema, museums, theatre, opera and other performing arts), 100 euros for physical products (records, books, video games, magazines and paper newspapers.. .), another 100 for internet products (ebooks, audiobooks, platforms, digital press…).

After the opening of the process to join the cultural industry, the program is expected to be launched “in a few weeks” (i.e. at the end of July or as early as September) so that young people turning 18 can participate in the 2022 they start to take advantage of the 400 euro bonus intended to invest exclusively and exclusively in culture.

The aim is that the entry into adulthood is accompanied by an impulse to enjoy and discover cultural activities, thereby consolidating citizens who adopt culture as a habit into their adult lives.

It is estimated that around 500,000 young people from all over Spain will benefit from this measure, which is also a determined support from the government of Spain to the cultural sector, which has been particularly damaged and affected by the pandemic and health measures.

Since the Royal Decree regulating the Youth Cultural Bonus was published last March, the Ministry of Culture and Sports has been making progress in the technical needs to implement it.

Thus, last June, the Ministry of Culture and Sports resolved an essential procedure for the implementation of the program and selected Correos y Telégrafos as the financial entity of the Cultural voucher for young people for its ability to be present throughout the territory and thus facilitate the implantation to facilitate it.

To register, you must be registered in an electronic identity system such as the Digital Certificate, the DNIe or Cl@ve. The registration and management of the bonus will be done via a website and an app. Once the aid has been granted, a virtual prepaid card will be received which will be used via the smartphone.
