Svazek in first place – Salzburg election: who cleared the preference votes

Date:

The preference votes in the state elections in Salzburg have been counted. With 32,906 votes at district level, FPÖ top candidate Marlene Svazek is the undisputed leader in the list of preferential votes. KPÖ-Plus frontman Kay-Michael Dankl received 6,355 votes in the city of Salzburg alone, putting Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) in second place.

The incumbent provincial governor was only on the district party list in the city of Salzburg and received 5,594 preferential votes.

9602 votes for David Egger
All other top candidates topped all district party lists. Dankl stands for SPÖ top candidate David Egger, whose party came third after ÖVP and FPÖ. A total of 14,305 voters gave him a county-level preferred vote, while 9,602 voted for Egger.

The current deputy governor recorded less: for the green top candidate Martina Berthold there were 5071 preference votes at the district level. State councilor and NEOS top candidate Andrea Klambauer, whose party will no longer be in the state parliament in the coming legislature, received 3070 votes.

In the Salzburg-Environment district there were the ÖVP regional councilors Josef Schwaiger with 3840, Stefan Schnöll with 2842 and Daniela Gutchi with 510 preferential votes at the district level. State President Brigitta Pallauf (ÖVP) received 562 preferential votes in the city of Salzburg.

Two preferential votes could be awarded
For the first time this year, two preference votes could be awarded, one at the state level and one at the district level. At the state level, however, this capability was used less frequently; Haslauer leads among the top candidates with 1,661 preferred votes. Within the party, however, he was overtaken by the ÖVP state councilors Schwaiger (3420) and Schnöll (1769), the former taking first place at the state level. With 1546 and the fourth most preferred vote, FPÖ top candidate Marlene Svazek is just behind Haslauer on the state list.
