An index adjustment will bring significantly more money into the coffers of the five parliamentary groups in Salzburg over the next five years.
The five parties in the state parliament have received about 5.2 million euros in party money per year for the past five years. Now this has been adjusted to the index and increased by 7.7 percent. That would annually throw about 400,000 euros more into the party coffers. Calculated over five years, that would be no less than two million euros.
criticism of the opposition
This drew criticism from the opposition. “Instead of going to the parties, the money should go to the Salzburg state aid,” says Kay-Michael Dankl of the KPÖ Plus. Simon Heilig-Hofbauer (Greens) is also hard on the new black-blue government. Because – just like in the previous legislature – this could suspend the inflation correction.
“The first thing the new state government is thinking about is not a package against expensive housing costs or the expansion of a free kindergarten. No, the first thing I think of is black and blue to help themselves with taxpayers’ money,” said the Green politician.
2.3 million euros club funding
In addition to party funding, the political groups represented in the state parliament also receive club funding totaling 2.3 million euros. For Dankl, who is in principle in favor of subsidies, the local parties simply get too much from the taxpayer’s money. In Germany the amount is significantly lower.
He also criticizes that a number of important support measures for people in need have still not been adapted to the extremely high inflation in Austria and Salzburg. As an example, the neo member of the state parliament and club president cites emergency aid and unemployment insurance.
