Speech at the party conference – family reunification: Ludwig calls for “more resources”

Date:

The “Krone” knows the details of the speech of the mayor of Vienna at the SPÖ state party conference: it is about security, the EU and more money for schools. And Michael Ludwig says: “No to reducing indirect labor costs!”

On Saturday, Mayor Michael Ludwig will stand for re-election as party leader during the SPÖ state party conference. The “Krone” knows the content of his speech entitled “The Vienna Way – Politics with Responsibility”:

Family reunification by Syrians
Request from the federal government for more resources due to family reunification by Syrians: “Their allocation is arranged according to a completely outdated system. What we therefore need is the introduction of an opportunities index for the whole of Austria at the top of the education policy agenda.” And further: “The opportunity index, as we have already implemented on a small scale in Vienna, ensures that schools receive sufficient resources and schools facing greater challenges receive additional support for promotion. We need this system for all of Austria.” And he will refer to the German offensive “to strengthen the language skills of children and young people.”

‘No to reduction in additional wage costs’
The mayor of Vienna will also say clearly: “No to the reduction of indirect labor costs.” This point has its own chapter in his speech. His explanation: “The employer contribution to health insurance, the employer contribution to pension insurance. The unions have been fighting for this for decades.” Ludwig is certain that a cutback will mean that “no one will have a euro left in their wallet.” And further: “Only the employer would benefit from a reduction in indirect labor costs. But the employees are left empty-handed.”

“Vienna House Rules”
When it comes to safety, the city boss insists on the “Viennese house rules” which he likes to quote: “In the future we will insist even more strongly that they apply to everyone equally! Where the rules of coexistence are ignored and broken, there must and will be strict consequences.” As an example, he mentions the weapons ban zone around Reumannplatz, including the use of mobile teams and ‘consistent action against problem houses’. misery has now arisen in districts, which are largely inhabited by refugees. The city is taking action against the perpetrators of the attack with raids and wants to prevent dangerous theft of electricity by residents.

“Ending dependence on gas”
The EU will become a big bloc – in line with the start of the election campaign. The focus of his speech: the European strengthening of fundamental social and worker rights, ending gas dependence and strengthening national basic security systems.

Other topics: jobs, healthcare, housing and climate. There will be no surprises when it comes to Ludwig’s election outcome – his re-election.
