The long-awaited day has arrived. It will be decided on Sunday who will be the new mayor of Innsbruck. Voting will take place again in 154 districts in Innsbruck from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The two candidates have already cast their votes. A result must be available between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
This time, just over 100,000 people from Innsbruck are eligible to vote. You can cast your vote in 154 districts and 43 polling stations from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Make sure you bring your ID!
For the mayor’s shortlist, 10,598 absentee ballots were issued, 4,240 fewer than in the first round. If you have not yet sent your voting card by post, you can also return it sealed to the constituency where it is registered.
The two party leaders also cast their votes. The start was made by the incumbent Federal Minister Georg Willi, who came to the polling station on his bicycle.
The turnout will be exciting: in the first round of voting it rose from 50 percent in 2018 to 60% now. In the second election between Christine Oppitz-Plörer and Georg Willi, only 44% voted, almost as much (or little) as in 2012.
After the polling stations close, the counting of votes begins. The election results will be announced between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM after all votes have been fully counted at the Innsbruck City Library.
