With mounting indications of an impending Israeli ground offensive in Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now sending a clear warning to Iran.
“There is no place Israel will not go to protect our people and our land. Mohammed Deif asks. Ask Nasrallah,” the head of government said in a video message on Monday (see below), referring to the intended leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah. The government in Tehran is bringing the Iranian people “closer to the abyss” every day, Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu wants peace between ‘two ancient peoples’
At the same time, he also struck a conciliatory tone – combined with the hope for a change of power in Tehran: ‘When Iran is finally free – and the moment is closer than people think – everything will be different. Two ancient peoples, Jewish and Persian, will finally be at peace.”
“Don’t let a small group of fanatical holy warriors destroy your hopes and dreams,” the 74-year-old demanded. The Iranian leadership, which is plunging the region deeper into war and darkness every day, does not care about the future of the Iranian people, Netanyahu claimed.
The Lebanese terrorist militia Hezbollah is considered Tehran’s most important ally in the Middle East. However, it is unlikely that the Iranian military will openly come to the group’s aid now. There are many reasons for this: according to observers, the government probably expects military attacks on Iranian territory. In addition, the new Iranian government under President Masoud Pezeshkian is facing a serious economic crisis and is trying to reconnect with the West.
Iran wants to respond to ‘criminal actions’ by Israel
There were still threats to Israel from Tehran. None of Israel’s “criminal actions” will go unanswered, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said at a routine press conference in Tehran on Israel’s targeted killings in Lebanon. Kanaani strongly condemned the attack that killed Hassan Nassrallah. The Iranian government is demanding immediate action from the international community and the UN Security Council.
