MP Marcel Bauer (Die Linke) had to leave the meeting twice in the German Bundestag on Friday. The reason for this: he wore a mand hat. Bauer calls the procedure a “ridiculous decision”.
The Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU) had asked Bauer to stop or go. “I would ask you to do it because this is common in the house,” she said. “And if that is not for you, I ask you to leave the hall.”
The left member did that too. But later he came back to the room – with the mand hat on his head. Parliamentary Vice President Andrea Lindholz (CSU) asked Bauer again to stop his head cover.
When the member of parliament refused, she referred the politician of the current meeting. The vice -president welcomed the MPs of the CDU/CSU and the AfD.
Here you can see the video that Marcel Bauer has uploaded to Instagram:
After the incident, Marcel Bauer published a video in which the scenes can be seen during the session. In the video he criticized the procedure and called it “a ridiculous decision for which there is no legal basis.”
Incidentally, this is not the first time that the clothing becomes the subject of politics. In 2015, a member of the left complained that CSU politician Dorothee Bär wore a football jersey in the Bundestag, as “Der Spiegel” reported.
