Iran Russia’s ally has so far been suspicious of the American attacks on the Iranian atomic infrastructure. Now the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mullahs, Abbas Araghtschi, is trying more support when visiting the Kremlin. On the sidelines of his meeting with head of the state of Vladimir Putin and his Foreign Minister Sergei Lawrow, De Kremlin assured that his country was willing to help the Iranian people.
The meeting serves to find a way out of the current situation, Putin explained at the start of the meeting. From Araghtschi, Putin would even have brought a letter from the Iranian head of Ajatollah Ali Khamenei. Russia and Iran had completed a strategic partnership last January, which, however, does not include an obligation to do in the case of an attack. The Russian side did not say a word about what the Russian support could consist of.
Russian air defense system for Iran?
Iran was dissatisfied with the previous Russian support and wants Putin to do more to support the country against Israel and the United States, as announced from the Iranian government circles. What exactly expects Putin’s Iranian leadership was not performed. About journalistic questions about possible aircraft systems for the Iranians, Kremlin spokesperson said Dmitri Peskow: “It all depends on what the Iranian friends say.”
Last week, Russian leadership warned of a further escalation in the middle and offered Putin as an intermediary. The United States attacked the Iranian nuclear facilities during the weekend. Iran then shot missiles on Israel, with numerous wounded and buildings were destroyed in Tel Aviv. In addition, the leadership in Tehran the US threatened with retribution.
