While many are critical of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s visit to Vienna, scheduled for Thursday, and even demand that he not be invited, there is at least one person who is happy with the visit: FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl. Despite racist statements, he is a politician who bravely swims “against the tide”. Kickl suggests Chancellor Nehammer learn from the controversial politician. In fact, in the krone.tv summer conversation with Katia Wagner, he recommends Austria try to form an alliance with Hungary…
The head of the PVV does not believe in Orban’s terminology, according to which “races should not mix”, but it is not surprising that he sees substance in the attitude of the Hungarian prime minister. It is difficult to reconcile “completely diametrically opposed images of society”. “Orban is the only one who has the courage to take it on.” The chancellor could learn that from him.
Term “race” no – term “population exchange” but yes…
While Kickl wouldn’t use the word “race,” he would use the equally controversial and far-right term “population exchange.” This is not a conspiracy theory, but describes a “state”. According to Kickl, there are “parallel cultures” whose members “disdain our society and consume our social benefits”. “The last Home Secretary to fight against this is sitting across from you in this summer lecture,” Kickl says.
Calls for a referendum on sanctions…
According to the FPÖ boss, Austria must also adhere to Hungary when it comes to illegal migration. A departure from the European Union is currently “no problem” for him, but he does not want to rule it out. There is also no criticism of the EU, certainly not with regard to the sanctions against Russia. “They bring nothing and do not lead to the end of the war,” says the blue boss. That is why he is calling for a referendum, which he thinks will end the sanctions, because: “People don’t want the sanctions against Russia”, he is sure.
… and negotiations with Russia
Instead of sanctions, Austria, but also the EU, should try to negotiate. The fact that Russia broke the contract by shelling ports just one day after an extradition deal for Ukrainian grain did not affect Kickl’s confidence in Putin’s willingness to negotiate. He also finds sympathetic words for the Russian side when he emphasizes that there was “a prehistory” to the war. You have to listen to “everyone’s interests” and not “let the Americans pull you over.”
Goal: Second round with Federal President Van der Bellen
Herbert Kickl is looking forward to the presidential elections with great confidence. With the blue candidate, he wants to “force a second round” from which Walter Rosenkranz must ultimately come “as the winner”. The fact that political observers don’t rate Rosencrantz as the most dazzling candidate doesn’t impress him: “I feel reminded when we presented Norbert Hofer in the last election.”
Applause for Austria’s most unpopular politician
Does Kickl deem himself capable of ruling, though no one wants to form a coalition with him? Yes, his goal is to lead the way no matter what. “I want to be number one!” he says confidently. How should this end for the politician, who is consistently last on the confidence index? “I invite you, Mrs. Wagner, to an event where we are out and about with people. You will experience how much encouragement the supposedly least popular politician in Austria gets, while the supposedly most popular is whistled for!”
So the next meeting will be there.
