Although we’ve been talking about April 6 for weeks now, emotions are running high. Athletic feelings are intensified, lived and shared. Like me, I’m sure many of you will experience this final with that family member who brought you passion for the home team and wants you to experience what he experienced 40 years ago.
The rest of you will be mothers and fathers who will enjoy this finale with your sons and daughters and relive it all before their eyes. There are also the Haitians and the mothers who celebrated the 1984 Cup with your sons and daughters and who will now do so with your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Either way, thank you all for continuing the Athletic legacy and passing it on as the great treasure that comes with being part of the red and white family.
And especially, thank you Father. Thank you for teaching me that there is nothing better than being a member of Athletic Club de Bilbao. Thanks for the first shirt and the first visit to San Mamés.
Thank you for giving me the red and white passion for our team. Thank you for celebrating with me in victories and comforting me in defeats. Thank you for giving me one of the best gifts of my life. Thanks for joining me at Athletic.
Whatever happens today in La Cartuja, I will experience my first final with him live and direct, and with that I have already won.
