The first public event of Pedro Rocha as the new president of RFEF and after not being able to attend last night in Zaragoza the final of Queen’s Cup. The meeting started at 7:00 pm when the federation president’s flight did not land in Madrid until 9:30 pm. The flight that brought him back from Bangkok, where he attended the FIFA Congress and where he held meetings with president Gianni Infantino and his UEFA name, Alexander Ceferin.
His place was filled by the current deputy vice president of the RFEF, María Angeles García Chaves, who shared the box at La Romareda with Her Majesty the Queen, Leticia Ortiz, and the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría. Joan Laporta is also in the box in his capacity as president of FC Barcelona. San Sebastian President Jokin Aperribay is absent after testing positive for COVID.
This is the RFEF president’s second absence from a women’s tournament as the Extremadura native was also absent on May 10 for the Champion’s Cup presentation to FC Barcelona at the end of the F League match against Athletic Club from Bilbao. A personal issue prevented him from being with Johan Cruyff.
The only ceremony where a trophy was presented was just a week ago when the League Champion Cup was presented to Real Madrid, but it was a private event that took place at the Valdebebas Sports City before the celebrations of the white club began in the Community of Madrid, City Hall and Cibeles.
This week Rocha’s suspension will be discussed
Last Friday the CSD formally established the Representation, Normalization and Supervision Commission of the RFEF, which will be chaired by Vicente del Bosque and will have up to five members. The CSD is waiting to hear the response from FIFA and UEFA to the invitation that the Spanish sports organization has requested to be part of it. If favourable, one representative from UEFA and another from FIFA will complete these five planned members. So join a woman and legal expert with Vicente del Bosque himself.
Furthermore, in the next few days CSD is expected to meet with their Board of Directors to discuss whether or not to suspend Pedro Rocha for the file opened by the TAD against the current RFEF president. File that the TAD decided to open on April 11 following the complaint presented by the president of CENAFE and based on possible very serious violations for allegedly exceeding the performance of their duties during the time they were in charge of the Manager. These excesses are related to several decisions adopted during those months within the RFEF.
The two previous calls of this Commission on April 25 and 30 had to be postponed. The latter because TAD requested up to 40 documents needed for the file. Documentation that, as MD knows, the RFEF has been sent to TAD. Situation that allows us to convene the CSD Board of Directors to make a decision.
