Trouble with the English team before Greece!

Date:

England visit this Thursday at Greece in an important match for a return to League A of the Nations League and it was surrounded by great controversy. Lee Carsleyinterim coach of Englandhad up to eight casualties, almost all of them starters, and many media outlets accused the clubs of forcing players not to join the national team, citing injuries or physical problems.

The English team lost in October against the Greece at Wembley (1-2) and therefore this Thursday they must win at home to the Hellenes, where they are fighting for first place in the group, the only one that gives the right to be promoted to League A, after their shocking relegation in 2022. England must win by at least two goals and lose on Sunday Ireland in London.

The casualties were: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Phil Foden and Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill (Chelsea) and Aaron Ramsdale (Southampton). All of them are, according to the English Football Federation (FA), “unusable.”

Many English media reacted with irony to the announcement of the eight casualties and even said if Thomas Tuchelthe new coach, is already in charge of the ‘pros’ (he will do so on January 1), many of these absences will not happen.

So, the media suggests a ‘boycott’ of these last two meetings of Lee Carsley interim coach, leading the team. Faced with a series of casualties, Carsley called Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa, 22 years old, first call-up for the senior team), James Trafford (Burnley), Tino Livramento (Newcastle, Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton) and Jarrod Bowen (West Ham).
