Police warn of WhatsApp new scams in which they find it difficult to ask for money as a family member

Date:

National police have uncovered a new fraud committed through the WhatsApp messaging app, in which scammers contact women who pose as their children to urgently demand money to solve an alleged problem.

Scammers who present themselves as their children tell the victim that they can not normally communicate on a cell phone because they have problems with the terminal and are unable to receive calls. In the face of this situation the fraudsters agree to make immediate transfers upon request.

Until women actually talk to their children, they will not realize that they have become victims of fraud and can no longer cancel the amount transferred.

Investigators found this fraud in various parts of the country and that the criminals managed to steal between 2,000 and 26,000 euros.

National Police advise you not to lose patience if you receive this type of message to make sure you are actually talking to a family member before making a transfer.
