An Upper Austrian (48) suffered serious head injuries when jumping from the hotel terrace in the Wörthersee. Out of sheer glee, the man had decapitated himself in the water, which was only three feet deep at the time.
A swimmer from Upper Austria jumped from the terrace of a hotel in Lake Wörthersee in Pörtschach. However, the jump site was only about a meter deep. The 48-year-old allegedly hit his head and then floated motionless in the water. Swimmers on the neighboring jetty noticed this and called for help. A 47-year-old Upper Austrian reacted with lightning speed and pulled his seriously injured friend out of the water.
Perfect rescue chain
A doctor who happened to be there provided first aid, police said. After first aid, the 48-year-old was flown to the Klagenfurt clinic with the rescue helicopter ÖAMTC C11.
