A few days after a tragic accident at work in Kalsdorf south of Graz, a 50-year-old worker died from his serious injuries. The man had fallen ten meters after a glass plate was broken.
Last Thursday, the worker and his 58-year-old colleague attached glass elements of about 5.2 square meters as a roof at a height of ten meters. The parts were gradually lifted onto the metal structure with a crane and set up and fastened by the workers.
Suction cup did not come off
Because a suction cup had not completely detached from a glass plate, the crane briefly pulled up the element on which the two were already standing. Then the plate came off, crashed into the metal structure and broke. The workers fell and were seriously injured.
They were flown to the Graz Regional Hospital in the C12 rescue helicopter. As is now known, one of the two men died a few days after the accident as a result of the injuries.
