At about 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, a dangerous chase broke out in Vienna: a 31-year-old stepped on the gas during a police check, ran over several red lights, ran into one-way traffic and also sidewalks.
The trip ended in the area of Outer Mariahilfer Strasse, where the car collided with an uninvolved car. The 31-year-old, a Serb, was arrested. He was “considerably” drunk, according to a broadcast.
Several bottles of alcoholic beverages were found in the car, police said. Further investigation also revealed that the vehicle registered in Serbia was not insured. The license plates have therefore been removed.
The Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued a warrant for the 31-year-old’s arrest. He is charged with willful threat and coercion. There are also a number of reports of traffic violations. No one was injured in the speedy ride and collision.
