In the US state of California, a family with an eight-month-old baby was found dead days after they were abducted. The bodies of the three adults and the child were discovered Wednesday in an orchard in Merced County, southeast of San Francisco, Sheriff Vern Warnke said at a news conference.
A few hours before the bodies were found, the sheriff posted a video of the moment of the kidnapping (see below) on Facebook. Records show that the child’s parents, baby and an uncle were abducted Monday from their company headquarters in rural California by a man who appeared to be armed.
Suspicious attempted suicide
The police have arrested a suspect. The motive was initially unclear. ABC’s local California TV station KFSN reported that the arrested man had previously attempted suicide. His own relatives alerted police after he told them he was involved in the kidnapping.
