The people of St. Veit were amazed when white flakes suddenly fell from the sky on Tuesday morning. However, it was not extremely early snowfall in October, but foam. The company Fundermax has the statement:
“During a routine cleaning of the cooling tower water in the boiler house, a little too much of a cleaning agent was used that is biodegradable after use and is harmless to living beings and nature,” the company says. The result? The foam was blown up by the cooling tower fans and fell like snow to the ground within a radius of about 150 meters.
No risk of foam
The cleaning agent has created foam, similar to whipped egg whites. Fundermax, however, clarifies: “It is a harmless protein compound. The foam is very easily biodegradable and dissolves on its own after a few hours.” It poses no danger to living beings or nature.
The cooling tower system has been shut down immediately, there is no effect on the Glan. Foam removal is already underway. All residents are personally informed.
