An accident on the southeastern tangent (A23) of Vienna in the Handelskai area caused massive traffic congestion on Thursday. According to the ÖAMTC, a truck lost cement around 11:45 am.
Sometimes the entire highway had to be closed in a northerly direction. There is currently one lane open. Clean-up work is underway. “We now have a traffic jam of up to ten kilometers to the Sterngasse,” Marc Römer of the ÖAMTC told the APA early in the afternoon. On Twitter, ARBÖ warns against time loss of up to 30 minutes.
Ostautobahn also affected
There were also traffic problems on the access roads to the A23. The Ostautobahn (A4), among others, was hit, where traffic stopped until the Simmeringer Haide. The Landstraßer Gurtel was also hit by congestion as far as Fasangasse.
