The low sun on Thursday afternoon was fatal for a truck driver in the Tyrolean Oberland: the 47-year-old Dutchman overlooked the car of a German (78) on the B189 Mieminger Straße near Nassereith (Imst district) who wanted to turn left. The truck hit the back of the car, which was then pushed into another car in which the man’s wife was sitting. The 78-year-old German and his passenger (40) were injured.
The accident happened just after 4 p.m.: the Dutch truck driver was on the B189 in Nassereith in the direction of the Fernpass when – allegedly due to the low sun – he overlooked the German’s car. Like his wife before him, the 78-year-old stopped to turn left.
Two injured people hospitalized
“The trailer then hit the back of the car in front of it and pushed it against the vehicle containing the German’s 71-year-old wife. The driver and a woman (40) traveling with him were injured,” the police report said. After first aid at the accident site, the two were taken to Zams hospital by ambulance.
A number of vehicles involved and an oncoming vehicle sustained significant material damage.
