This year faces the biggest refugee crisis since 2015. Vienna is taking in a disproportionate number of asylum seekers. The city has always been the first port of call for immigrants. But what are the reasons for this?
In the current refugee crisis, Vienna once again plays a pioneering role when it comes to aid provision. By about 180 percent, the federal capital clearly exceeds the quota scheme for the distribution of refugees. But that doesn’t go down well everywhere.
