90 buildings evacuated – series of false bomb threats in Croatia

Date:

A series of false bomb threats worried all of Croatia on Monday. More than 90 courthouses and shopping centers across the country had to be evacuated due to anonymous threats. All bomb warnings have turned out to be false after house searches, Croatian media reported.

“The police know in which country the server is located from which the reports were sent,” Interior Minister Davor Božinović told Nova TV on Monday evening. “It’s not Croatia. It’s not close either,” he added. According to the minister, the Croatian authorities are cooperating with the European Counter Terrorism Center, Europol and the FBI in the investigation.

“Don’t Blame the People”
According to Božinović, such things also happen in the EU and in Europe in general. “There is war on our continent, you should not ignore it,” he said. When asked if the threats could be part of Russian propaganda, the minister replied: “At this stage I am not ruling out anything, nor will I assign blame.”

The bomb threats were received at 55 courts and 38 shopping malls across Croatia. The report, which was received by the regional court in Dubrovnik, said, among other things, that they wanted to overthrow the Croatian government, the media reported.
