Fire alarm on Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean Lechtal: For reasons that have not yet been clarified, a fire broke out on the roof of a house in Elbigenalp. At around 11 p.m., parts of the roof structure suddenly caught fire. A neighbor noticed this, reacted quickly and took the elderly couple out of the house. He immediately made an emergency call.
More than 80 emergency services at minus 17 degrees
Due to the difficult situation on site, the local fire brigade had to call in the fire brigades of Bach, Häselgehr, Stockach, Grünau and Holzgau for support. All in all, more than 80 emergency services fought the flames.
The fire was eventually brought under control relatively quickly. At that time, however, it was still a matter of finding and combating embers under the roof boarding. “The freezing cold of around minus 17 degrees was particularly challenging because there was a risk that the fire water pipes would freeze,” a police officer told the “Krone”.
