Two “waves” in Tyrol – Up to one and a half meters: now comes the snow!

Date:

What hardly anyone dared to hope for: Tyrol will sink into the snow this week! Especially the Unterland and the Arlberg are the focus of Frau Holle. But it becomes more than white in all of Tyrol.

The real winter was announced again and again, but the predictions never came true. But now it seems to be getting serious. “From Wednesday to Friday evening this week it will snow throughout Tyrol – down to the valleys,” says meteorologist Konstantin Brandes of the weather service UBIMET.

Preview on Monday
We will get a small preview in the course of Monday when the first – moderate – snowfall arrives from Bavaria. It will be exciting from Wednesday evening. According to Brandes, it will then snow all over Tyrol and two main points will emerge. “One of them is the Arlberg with the upper Lechtal. In the valley between Landeck and St. Anton, even a meter of snow can fall,” the meteorologist predicts.

The second hotspot will be the area from the Zillertal via the Kitzbüheler Alpen to the Kaiserwinkel with comparable snow amounts.

About 20 centimeters in Innsbruck
“At greater heights, one and a half meters is also possible.” Innsbruck has to get about 20 centimeters, Seefeld three quarters of a meter.

According to Brandes, nothing would change in the predicted weather conditions. Only the absolute amounts of snow and the duration are uncertain.
