The 62-year-old driver from the Zwettl district briefly stopped his heavily damaged vehicle, but then drove on without reporting the incident. On the further journey, the man from the Waldviertel called the emergency number and was instructed to come to the Leoben police station in Styria. The horse died shortly before 6 p.m. at the scene of the accident.
Due to the heavy damage to the car, the driver was banned from driving. The 62-year-old – he was injured in the collision – will be reported to the responsible district administrative authority for the hit-and-run traffic accident and other offenses, the state police in Lower Austria said.
