Incredible scenes played out on Wednesday afternoon in the Skicircus Saalbach – Hinterglemm – Leogang – Fieberbrunn between Tyrol and Salzburg. When an unknown skier opened the lift bar, a boy riding with him fell five meters. The stranger drove off at the mountain station and the police are now looking for him.
Fortunately, the fall for the six-year-old from Germany was relatively light: according to the police, he was only slightly injured in the face. In the early afternoon, the boy was in a ski school group going up the Lärchfilzen chairlift in the municipality of Fieberbrunn in Tyrol. The ski instructor was in the back seats with other students and the six-year-old was driving with an unidentified adult.
Fortunately, the boy landed in the snow
“At support point number 11, about 15 meters before the mountain station, the unknown man opened the lever of the lift,” the police describe what happened next. Too early for the little passenger: The six-year-old slipped out of the seat and fell about five feet onto the snow-covered ground. Instead of checking on the boy, the stranger drove off.
The slope rescue service brought the slightly injured boy down into the valley with the Skidoo and handed him over to his grandfather. The police are now looking for the unknown winter sportsman who sat in the lift with him and opened the bar.
Witnesses who observed the accident or the man himself are requested to report to the police station in Erpfendorf (059133 7201).
