13 cats are looking for a new home, actually their owners. Because Annemarie and Markus Huemer don’t want to give up their house tigers. But the two and their sons have no shelter, because they lived in one of those houses that are no longer habitable after a stone chip.
It was a huge rumble that completely turned the lives of Markus (48) and Annemarie Huemer (52) and their two sons upside down. The rumble was the February 8 rockfall in Steyr that killed two excavator drivers. But the Huemers have also lost something, namely their house in which they lived as tenants.
Homeless overnight
This is no longer habitable, that would be far too dangerous. She and other people affected were informed about this in a conversation last Wednesday – we reported. “We became homeless practically overnight,” says Markus Huemer. Your landlord has given you temporary accommodation, but this will not be a permanent solution.
Search on Facebook
And now Markus Huemer and his family are looking for an apartment. But this turns out to be very difficult. The reason: the family takes care of 13 cats, all cats that need a garden. “Of course a house would be best again, but that’s not so easy in Steyr,” says Huemer. You’ve already asked the co-ops, but the cats are a problem. Now Markus Huemer has also posted a call for help on Facebook, looking for a new place to stay there.
But the Huemers have one hope left; Mayor Markus Vogl (SPÖ) had already pledged his support to the family in the search for a new “paradise”.
