The occupants of a bus in the Tyrolean Zillertal had to go through frightening moments late on Sunday afternoon: due to a medical emergency, the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a parked car. The driver was flown by ambulance helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck. The passengers were terrified.
The 31-year-old British driver was driving down a village street in Finkenberg at around 5.15pm when, according to police, he suddenly lost control of the 15-passenger minivan “due to a medical emergency”.
“The vehicle then collided with a car parked in front of a residential building. The force of the impact pushed it against the facade of the house,” the researchers say.
Driver flown to clinic, passengers unharmed
After receiving first aid at the scene of the accident, the 31-year-old bus driver was flown by helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck. According to the current status, no other people should have been injured. However, there was sometimes enormous damage to the vehicles and the facade of the house.
In addition to rescue, emergency doctor and helicopter crews, police and fire brigade were also present.
