While a Czech driver (40) was driving his semi-trailer on the Tauernautobahn in Carinthia on Tuesday morning, the vehicle suddenly caught fire. A firefighter who happened to follow him became a savior in an emergency.
The truck driver was driving on the Tauernautobahn (A10) in the direction of Villach on Tuesday when he suddenly noticed smoke in the driver’s cabin of the semi-trailer at Seeboden around 07.25 am. “According to the 40-year-old, a brake failure had occurred earlier,” says a police officer. The Czech immediately stopped the vehicle and came to a stop in the first lane.
“A firefighter from a company fire brigade who happened to follow him was able to bring the fire under control immediately with his fire-fighting vehicle,” said an official. The volunteer fire brigades of Gmünd, Seeboden, Lendorf and Trebesing eventually extinguished the fire. Fortunately no one was injured. The amount of damage caused is unknown at this time.
