The problems in the Viennese health system are increasingly difficult to deny. In particular, the lack of staff and its consequences are criticized in the annual report of patient advocacy.
Next week, the 2022 annual report of Vienna Nursing and Patient Advocacy (WPPA) will be discussed in the state parliament. The “Krone” already has it. In addition to individual cases of treatment errors, some of which resulted in fatalities, the report also contains general assessments of the situation in hospitals, doctors in private practice and the healthcare system.
Waiting times, compliments, costs
Last year, the WPPA processed a total of 9,691 concerns from patients or relatives (in 2021 there will be 11,055). Think of questions about costs, advance directives, compliments, but also complaints about waiting times and possible treatment errors. 2973 concerns were documented in the files (see graph).
