Originally established as a medical university in the Netherlands in 1976, Maastricht University (UM) developed into an exemplary educational institution in Europe in its early years. Representatives of the university and the city of Klagenfurt, the state and the federal ministry therefore joined forces for an educational mission to the north to look over the shoulders of their Dutch colleagues.
