An unusual theft was a subject in Salzburg’s regional court on Wednesday: a Serb (34) living in Salzburg had stolen a total of 5809 trading cards – from series of cards known mainly to younger people, such as “Yu-Gi-Oh”. “, “Pokemon” or “Magic”. Value of the tickets: about 81,000 euros.
Not only did the thief know his way around the cards – he was also able to break into the Salzburg store, specializing in trading cards, using a replica of the store key entrusted to him. He managed to sell a small part of the stolen cards to two shops in Vienna – which is why the prosecutor charged him with money laundering. “Everything I didn’t sell, I gave back,” said the defendant, who previously had no criminal record. “He is very sorry. At the time, shortly after his divorce, he was in a difficult situation and had family problems,” said the defense lawyer.
He wants to make up for the damage, he also promised the entrepreneur present. Due to the “high criminal energy”, according to the judge, he was given a year’s probation.
