A collision between four cars took place on Haller Strasse in Innsbruck on Saturday morning. Three people were injured, some seriously, including a six-year-old girl. A dog had to be freed with mountain scissors.
The accident happened around 9:40 a.m., according to police. The driver in the front of the four cars involved, a 68-year-old German, probably pulled the trigger. According to the 22-year-old driver who was behind him in the car, the German suddenly braked his car hard and then brought it to a stop. Then he should have driven back a few meters. The 22-year-old managed to pull over without colliding, but the drivers of the two vehicles behind her couldn’t.
The 39-year-old resident of the third car hit the 22-year-old’s car, and the fourth car, driven by a 55-year-old Italian, was unable to stop without colliding. The 22-year-old resident’s car was pushed against the car in front by the rear two cars.
Woman and girl taken to hospital
Three people were injured in the accident: according to the police, the six-year-old daughter of the driver of the third car was securely restrained in the passenger seat. She suffered minor injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital. The driver of the fourth car was also slightly injured, but did not have to go to the hospital. The passenger of the Italian, on the other hand, a 49-year-old Austrian, suffered serious injuries to her right arm and was also hospitalized. There was also a dog in the trunk of the two. Although the four-legged friend was unharmed, the professional fire brigade of Innsbruck had to free him with rescue scissors.
Two of the four cars involved were so badly damaged in the accident that they were no longer roadworthy. They had to be towed away. As police reported, the alcohol tests came back negative for everyone involved.
