On Sunday, a 37-year-old Vietnamese driver collided with a motorcyclist on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) in the direction of Villach (Salzburg). The result was a mile-long traffic jam.
The driver of the car was driving in the left lane when there was a traffic jam in front of his car. Because he reacted too late, he switched to the right lane without noticing the 54-year-old Czech motorcyclist there.
The Czech crashed, hit the crash barrier and was slightly injured. Rescue workers first treated him on the spot and then took him to the accident hospital in Salzburg by emergency helicopter.
The highway was completely closed during the investigation into the accident, causing a traffic jam of about five kilometers. Both drivers were tested for the influence of alcohol, but the results were negative.
