A young farmer from Eastern Styria worships the “Queen of Hearts”. Now he comes very close to the family of the late Princess Diana: a print of his Viennese bust will soon adorn Diana’s grave in England.
Almost everyone remembers exactly where he was when he heard of Diana’s death on August 31, 1997. “I was ten years old then and that day I was seriously injured in a tractor accident on the farm and had to go to the hospital,” recalls Ewald Wurzinger the day when the world stopped for a moment and millions of people cried. “Her death haunted me for months because I couldn’t understand why such an extraordinary woman had to die in such an ordinary way.”
Even as a child, he wanted her a memorial
At that time, the little boy vowed to one day erect a monument to Diana in order to get closer to the posthumously enthroned Queen of Hearts. This lifelong dream came true ten years ago with a white marble bust. “I saved for 15 years and was faced with the choice of buying a car with the money or financing the monument.”
