Ukraine counter-offensive – Zelenskyj sees progress: “Its on the move”

Date:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sees progress in the counteroffensive of the armed forces to liberate the territories occupied by Russia. “The Ukrainian armed forces are moving forward. Despite everything and despite what everyone says, we are making progress and that is the most important thing. We are on our way,” Zelenskyj told Telegram on Saturday.

Recently, Ukraine has repeatedly criticized Western experts for speaking of a slow progress of the offensive without the expected breakthroughs on the frontline. Selenskyj had also stated that the offensive was not a Hollywood movie.

“Proud of courage and marksmanship”
Zelenskyj also said on Twitter (X) that he was proud of the courage and accuracy of the Ukrainian shooters. He also published photos of explosions during operations in the war zone. He was grateful to the soldiers of the 47th artillery brigade for the effective defense of “our country” in the regions of Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Sumy and for “their strength in our northern regions”.

Offensive to liberate territories occupied by Russia
Ukraine has been defending itself with Western aid for over a year and a half against the Russian invasion launched by Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022.

In a counteroffensive that has been going on for weeks, the armed forces want to completely liberate the areas of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson, part of which is occupied by Russian troops. Kiev also wants to take back the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which was annexed in 2014 in violation of international law.
