Eight injured – serious accident on the first day of Oktoberfest


The start of this year’s Oktoberfest ended with eight people receiving medical treatment – not because of excessive alcohol consumption, but because of a ride on the dark roller coaster Höllenblitz. After a collision they ended up in the medical post. But it wasn’t just Hellbolt who had problems.

Under sunshine and a cloudless sky, the world’s largest folk festival started at noon on Saturday in Munich. Now it’s time to celebrate again until October 3, drink, laugh and walk around the Theresienwiese, try culinary delicacies or look for an adrenaline rush at one of the many attractions.

But on the first day of Oktoberfest, an accident occurred on the Höllenblitz roller coaster – two cars allegedly collided. According to the initial findings, a car rolled into the car behind it, according to the “FAZ”. Eight injured people were treated on site at the Oktoberfest medical station and two people were taken to hospital for further treatment.

The ride was closed. The police investigation is still ongoing and the cause of the accident has not yet been determined. An expert has been called in.

Technical problems
