Carelessness had major consequences for a 39-year-old in Tyrol’s Schwaz on Thursday afternoon. The man left a pan of oil unattended on the stove when it was turned on. The oil ignited and caused a kitchen fire.
When the 39-year-old noticed the smell of fire in the kitchen, the facility was already on fire. The man tried to get the fire under control with two fire extinguishers. But he couldn’t do it.
The tenant may have suffered smoke poisoning during attempts to extinguish the fire. He was admitted to Schwaz hospital.
The fire brigade responded with 30 emergency services
Only the Schwaz fire brigade managed to extinguish the kitchen fire. There were 30 emergency services on site. It is not yet clear how extensive the material damage is.
